The food chain requires healthy animals to be able to warrant the quality of its foodstuffs such as meat, dairy products, poultry and eggs. GD supplies knowledge and research facilities to various parties in the food chain, such as the foodstuffs industry (Food), livestock feed sector (Feed) and the suppliers of veterinary medicines (Farma).
Some examples of cooperation projects
Food
- Together with foodstuffs producers Vion Food Group and other partners in an Interreg project in the Euregion Rhine-Waal and the Euregion Rhine-Meuse-North, GD is working on risk management in the pig chain.
- GD performs laboratory analyses for chemical residues, for instance in eggs by commission of the eggs packing stations.
Feed
- GD Aëroplan for fattening pigs has been set up together with various feed suppliers. The program uses a structured system to tackle respiratory tract infections.
